My 9 yr old daughter wants to raise goats.She has read this book cover to cover in a few days and absorbed it all.She continually reports to me how much protein goat meat hascompared to beef, how much more nitrogen we'll get on our garden withgoat manure vs steers. She is especially interested in the chapter aboutdiseases and cures so that she will have a good reference guide if the timecomes where she would have a sick goat. The book is thorough and informative.
See also review by H.E. King. As a newbie to the dairy goat world, I rely heavily on my books. This one is pretty helpful, til you try to make your first batch of soft cheese. Look elsewhere for your cheese making info, or you'll be heartbroke when you wonder if you just wasted your precious fresh milk.

Not a book I'd want to rely on alone. Opinions and wives tails need to be sorted through. Incomplete, lacking depth. It's hard to pull off writing a book for all types of goats and this one doesn't quite make the stretch. This book might be a good starting point, but is no goat Bible. Try Storey's guides for that. This one for light reading.
It's not the greatest book I have read, but doable. I wanted something that had a little more detail.
